A client approached SapientPro to build a crypto-enabled marketplace for Steam users. Their goal was to allow players to buy and sell in-game items for USDT, offering an alternative to Steam’s restricted system where real-money withdrawals aren’t supported. The platform needed smart contract integration, access to Steam inventories, and a mobile-friendly design that works for both casual and high-volume users.
Steam doesn’t provide a public API for inventory access, which made it difficult to pull item data from user accounts in real time.
There was no existing framework for the type of transaction system required. The platform needed a crypto-based checkout flow built from scratch, with smart contracts handling the purchasing logic.
The platform enables players to trade Counter-Strike 2 skins for cryptocurrency, giving users more flexibility than the default Steam marketplace.
Each item includes a dedicated page showing key characteristics, visuals, and descriptions so players can make informed decisions before buying.
